Ed Saldivar – President/COO
Ed Saldivar is president of InsurTrust/King-
Phillips Insurance Agency, Inc. During his 20 years with InsurTrust, Ed has developed excellent relationships with specialty carriers and shares that expertise with all customers of the Agency.
Ed contributes to the management of the Agency by developing new carrier markets, creating sales strategies with agency producers, and maintaining a high level of training for all employees of InsurTrust. Ed is one of the top producer in the Agency and has a loyal following of clients who both appreciate and respect his attention to detail in fulfilling their insurance needs.
Ty Hunter – CEO/CFO
Ty is the CEO/CFO of InsurTrust/King-Phillips Insurance Agency and is serving in several capacities. He graduated from the University of Texas in 1968 with a Bachelor of Business Administration.
In 1984, he merged his insurance agency into a
multi-city Insurance Agency. Ty became their CEO and President from 1984 until 1988. In 1988, he organized a new Insurance Agency and operated independently until 1992. It was that year that he joined King-Phillips as a valuable member.
Ty has chosen to specialize in specific industries, and has developed knowledge of the inter-workings of the exposures and coverages available from the various insurance companies that are represented by King-Phillips. His ability to develop an excellent rapport with both clients and prospects, has enabled him to develop a successful group of loyal clients.
Roy Phillips – Defense/Plaintiff Litigation Consultant
Roy L. Phillips, CIC, CISR, AAI, CPIAL. Phillips served as President of the Clear Lake branch of the Agency and then as the President of King-Phillips from 1983 until 1995. At that time, he assumed the responsibilities of the growing consulting firm, and has been retained as an expert witness in over 200 legal proceedings in the past 15 years. He specializes in evaluation of insurance agencies, many times acting as a Special Master or Sole Arbitrator for the Court. In addition, he is retained by both plaintiff and defense attorneys as an expert witness in cases requiring interpretation of insurance coverages, standards of care, and insurance regulations. Roy served as an Adjunct Professor of Insurance at the University of Houston from 1965 until 1976, has taught commercial and personal insurance courses throughout the United States and continues today to
teach E&O Prevention and Ethics & Insurance Regulations. Roy is active in the Agency in providing training and assisting in reviewing active and prospective insurance accounts. He is a member of the Insurance and the Business Sections of the State Bar of Texas, as well as other professional associations.
Phillips is a licensed Agent and holds the Risk Manager license. For the first 16 years of his career, Roy served as an Underwriter, Claims Adjustor, Branch Manager and Vice President of a Regional Company. He joined his long-time friend, Dan King,
in 1981, and together they created the first “Cluster” in the
Texas market.
Roy served on active duty with the 77th Special Forces, the original Green Berets, and for the remainder of his 28 years of service he trained many of those units. Roy retired from the Army in 1986, having been promoted to Colonel in 1979.
Jan Calihan – Office Manager
Jan L. Callihan is Executive Vice President and General Manager of InsurTrust/King-Phillips Insurance Agency. Jan has been with King-Phillips since it was founded in 1974. She holds the Certified Insurance Counselor professional designation and has been a speaker at Insurance Agency seminars.
Jan manages the staff of the Agency and coordinated the work of customer service representatives in the areas of both personal
and commercial insurance coverages.
Jan has been instrumental in merging other insurance agencies acquired by King-Phillips,
and providing consistent service to those
insured by reviewing their insurance needs.
Commercial Lines Customer Service Representative
Janelle Lebato has worked for our agency for twenty three years. She is a Commercial Lines Customer Service Representative and Bookkeeper. She has her Property/Casualty License and the Accredited Customer Service Representative designation.
Account Executive
Kim has been in the insurance industry since 1984, starting at State Farm Insurance working in Personal Lines. She left personal lines in 1989 and went into Commerical Lines. She has worked with several large agencies and received all her experience from them. She learned how to negotiate with Insurance companies and with clients. (Coverage's needed are at her fingertips). Kim heads up the "New" Marketing Department at InsurTrust Insurance/King-Phillips Insurance Agency. Through her experience, she plans to achieve the best for her clients and their needs.
Mohamad Mukhtar began his insurance career in 1993 joining a Houston based Insurance Agency specializing in the Commercial Insurance and Owner Controlled Insurance Program. In 2005, he helped to establish Vital Insurance Group's Commercial and Personal Property business until joining InsurTrust/King- Phillips Insurance Agency in 2007. As an Account Executive, Mohamad Mukhtar specializes in Hotel/Motels, Apartment Complexes, and Petroleum Clients.
Robby Rodriguez has been in the insurance industry a little over a year now. He was born in Texas City and raised in Pearland. He attended Pearland High School and graduated in 2000. Robby enjoys hunting, fishing and loves to keep up with his sports teams. Robby had been with InsurTrust/King-Phillips Insurance working as a Commercial Agent since March 2010. Robby looks forward to working with you and assisting you with all your insurance needs.
Mikki originally started her insurance career in Arkansas with Northwestern National Insurance Company. After a short period, she moved to the agency side. Since living in Houston she spent 20 years with Belsford insurance agency until joining InsurTrust/ King-Phillips Insurance Agency nine years ago. Mikki works as an account manager for our Commercial accounts.
Personal Lines Customer Service Representative
Ruth Ashabranner has lived in Houston most of her life. She has been with our company in the Personal Lines Department for twenty two years. She is very knowledgeable and is eager to help you with all your personal insurance needs.
Rana Dasgupta has been in the insurance business for over twenty years. He brings his commercial insurance background with a wealth of working knowledge in various industry and business enterprises to InsurTrust/King-Phillips Insurance. He has lived and worked in various countries of Europe, Africa and Asia. Rana is an Alumni of Thunderbird School of Global Management and is active in various civic and philanthropic organizations. He has developed a strategic relationship with his clients based in the Hospitality Industry, Petroleum Retail Operations and Habitational properties.
Personal Lines Account Manager
Priscilla Smithwick has been in the insurance industry for the past three years. She thoroughly enjoys her career in Personal Lines as an Account Manager. She is Bilingual. Priscilla was born and raised in Houston, TX and currently lives in Katy with her husband and four children. She looks forward to assisting you with your Insurance wants and needs.
Marcos Vela attended college at Tulane University and graduated in 1995. In 1996, he began his insurance career with Vela Insurance Agency Inc. where he developed the Life and Health Department. In 2005, Marcos left Vela Ins and started his own company, Positive Benefit Solutions where he specialized in Employee Benefits. In March 2010 Marcos merged Positive Benefit Solutions with InsurTrust/King-Phillips Insurance Agency to expand his product portfolio. Marcos was a Program Director with the Alvin/Manvel Rotary Club from 1997 to 1999. He was a Board of Director of the Alvin/Manvel Chamber of Commerce from 1997 to 1999. Currently he is the Board of Director for Sienna Plantation Management District.
Greg McGehee has been a licensed insurance agent in Houston for all lines
of insurance for over 15 years. Greg specializes in Commercial Lines for businesses to handle all of their commercial insurance needs, including group health insurance. Greg has been a Sam Houston State University Alumni since 1988 and has been with InsurTrust/King-Phillips Insurance Agency since 2002 fulfilling the insurance needs of mainly Houston area companies through our large list of independent insurance carriers in a variety of disciplines. Greg has been heavily involved in Bellaire Little league baseball and football through his three sons. He is also very involved in the Sigma Chi Alumni Association.
Megan Venegas has been in the insurance industry for thirteen years. She has obtained her Agent’s license and a CISR Designation, and continues her education by staying up to date in the industry. She lives in Houston with her husband and two children. Client servicing and satisfaction is priority, how can she help you today?
Mary Frye – Account Executive
Mary Frye, Director of the Group Benefits department of InsurTrust Insurance/King- Phillips Insurance Agency. She started her insurance career in 2000 working on the wholesale insurance side, working with agents and their clients on their annual benefit elections. Joining our agency in 2007, she took on the role of working directly with company owners assisting in plan implementation, employer and employee benefits communication,
renewal negotiations and much more. She is focused on helping the small to mid size companies on employee benefit packages, including group health, dental, life, disability as well as serving the individual market to include life and health insurance products. She is an ACBC (Charter Benefit Consultant) and member of the Houston Association of Health Underwriters. When Mary is not talking insurance she enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband and two daughters.
